Embrace of the Serpent

Embrace of the Serpent is the internationally co-produced adventure drama film directed by Ciro Guerra, shot in black-and-white. The film won the Art Cinema Award in the Directors’ Fortnightsection at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival. It also was nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 88th Academy Awards.

 

Whilst targeting the traditional independent cinema going crowd we also wanted to broaden the release to a younger audience. We used traditional titles such as the Guardian and Observer knowing this would support strong reviews but focused more of the spend in digital using social as well as programmatic alongside partners such as Vice.

 

The Underground allowed us to up-weight London but we complimented this with fly posting in key cities to further increase our reach outside of the traditional London/SE audience.

 

This was Peccadillo’s biggest ever box office success taking £270k at the box office and featuring in Sight and Sound magazine.
