The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Following a 5 year period since the previous Elder Scrolls release, Bethesda launched the latest iteration, Skyrim, on the 11th day of the 11th Month in the 11th year of the 21st Century.

Although the title had a hardcore following it was important to move it into the mainstream and thereby broaden its appeal. This was a necessity in order to achieve the European sales targets in what was becoming an increasingly cluttered marketplace.

Following the success of fantasy movie and TV series such as Game of Thrones an opportunity existed in the market to satisfy a demand for a quality fantasy role-play title. With this in mind we marketed the product as a fantasy movie experience and partnered with our in-house creative agency, Superhero, to deliver a creative that would focus on a consistent colour palette and lead character to synchronise all phases of the activity. What followed was a breakout, high impact media campaign with national coverage across the UK and Europe. Skyrim crossed over into the mainstream with the highest week 1 Christmas sales in 2011 and was the only game to knock Activision and EA off the top spot in 8 years…
